Which cargo bike suits a dog
For a dog, the box matters more than the motor: a low floor, a non-slip mat and ideally a door, so the dog can walk in instead of being lifted. Front loaders and trikes are the usual choice because you can see the dog while riding. Small dogs also ride in a basket on a longtail or compact bike.
Size and weight of the dog
Check the box rating against the dog's weight plus anything else you carry. A large dog of 30 to 40 kg moves around, which you feel in the steering of a two-wheeler; a trike stays stable when the dog shifts. The floor should be long enough for the dog to lie down.
