Manufacturer’s recommended price
One of the most complete family cargo bikes you can buy: a safe foam box for up to four children, a strong Bosch motor and stepless gears. It is big, heavy and not cheap, but with a ground-level parking spot it can replace a car for most city trips.
AllCargo estimate: 80 kg rider, 40 kg cargo, rolling terrain, tour mode.

The Urban Arrow Family is built for one job above all: moving children through the city every day, safely and without drama. With a large front box, a permitted total weight of 250 kg and room for up to four kids depending on the seat setup, it is the bike families choose when a second car is on the table. If you mainly carry one child or have to carry the bike up stairs, a smaller longtail will suit you better.
Like every long front-loader, the Family steers differently from a normal bike: the front wheel sits ahead of the box and the steering is linked, so the first rides feel indirect. Most riders adapt within a day. At 2.64 m long it needs room to turn, and tight U-turns on narrow paths take practice. In return, the low load position keeps the bike calm with children on board, and the suspension fork takes the edge off cobblestones and kerbs.
The box is the heart of the bike. It is made of EPP foam, the material used in child car seats, so it is light, cushioned and does not rot like plywood. Children sit facing forward, always in view of the rider, secured by harnesses on the bench. With a rain cover it becomes a sheltered cabin for winter school runs. Without the seats, the flat floor takes a weekly shop, a dog or a crate of drinks.
The Bosch mid-drive motor with 85 Nm of torque moves a fully loaded bike over bridges and moderate hills without the rider standing on the pedals. The stepless Enviolo hub lets you change gear while stopped, which helps at traffic lights with a heavy load. With the 545 Wh battery we estimate about 40 km per charge with an 80 kg rider and 40 kg of cargo on rolling terrain. Flat city riding in eco mode gets noticeably more, a hilly route with two kids noticeably less. If your daily route is long, look at a larger or second battery.
The key question before buying is parking. At 70 cm wide the bike passes a standard door, but it will not fit in a small lift and needs a ground-level spot of at least 2.7 m. At around 51 kg it is not something you carry. Maintenance is straightforward: the enclosed hub gear and covered chain need little attention, and the four-piston hydraulic disc brakes are sized for heavy cargo bikes.
The Urban Arrow Family gets the essentials right for families: a safe, comfortable box, a strong motor and components chosen for heavy daily use. It is large, heavy and costs around €7,000 before accessories. But if you have a ground-level parking spot and carry children every day, it is one of the few bikes that can genuinely take over from a car.
At 70 cm wide it passes a standard 80 cm door. At 2.64 m long it will not fit in a small lift, so plan a ground-level parking spot of at least 2.7 m.
Yes. The foam box does not absorb water and with the optional rain cover children stay dry. Hub gears and hydraulic disc brakes work reliably in the wet; expect less battery range in the cold.
The linked steering feels unusual at first, but most riders are comfortable after a few rides. Practise turning and parking on a quiet street before taking children along.
The Urban Arrow Family Performance Line CX can carry up to 4 children, depending on the seats and accessories fitted.
