How we review

AllCargo compares cargo bikes on data, not marketing. This page explains where our numbers come from, how we calculate them and how our texts are written.

Where our data comes from

Specifications come from manufacturers’ official pages and from large European retailers. When sources disagree, we keep the manufacturer’s figure.

Prices are checked automatically at large European retailers. Every price shows when it was last checked, and sold-out models are marked as such.

How we standardise specifications

Every figure is converted to the same units: torque in Nm, battery capacity in Wh, weights in kg and dimensions in mm. Dual batteries are added up, and names like “PowerPack 545” are read as 545 Wh.

Values we cannot confirm are left empty rather than guessed, and missing data is simply not shown.

How we estimate range

Manufacturers measure range under different conditions, so their figures cannot be compared. We estimate range for every bike with the same model: battery capacity against the energy needed to move bike, rider and cargo.

Our reference scenario is an 80 kg rider, 40 kg of cargo, rolling terrain and a medium assist level. The range calculator on each bike page uses exactly this formula with your own values.

Wh/km = (2.5 + 0.045 × kg) × Terrain × Assist level · usable battery capacity 90 %

How our overviews are written

Overviews are based on specifications, manufacturer documentation and experience reported by owners. We do not claim test rides we have not done, and we name weaknesses as clearly as strengths.

We use AI tools to help draft texts and translate them into seven languages. An editor checks every text against the data before publishing and updates it when specifications or prices change.

Independence

AllCargo is not owned or paid by any manufacturer or shop. Which bikes we list, how we describe them and in which order they appear depends only on the data.
