The Convercycle Electric is for city riders who only sometimes need a cargo bike and do not want to park one every day. Folded, it is about 2 m long like a normal bike; unfolded, the rear wheel moves back and the bike becomes a longtail about 2.75 m long with a loading space of about 60 × 40 cm between saddle and rear wheel. The load area takes up to 80 kg, and the bike is rated for 180 kg in total.
Riding and everyday use
The conversion takes only a few seconds and needs no tools. The Bafang front hub motor with up to 45 Nm gives enough help in town but is weaker than the mid-drive motors of most cargo bikes, especially on steep hills with a full load. The 400 Wh battery covers around 30 km with a load. The 8-speed hub gear and hydraulic disc brakes are simple and reliable, and 28-inch wheels roll well on longer rides.
Before you buy
At 38 kg the Convercycle is heavier than a normal e-bike, so lifting it up steps is hard. If you carry children or heavy loads every day, a dedicated longtail with a mid-drive motor is the better choice.
