The Tern Quick Haul P9 is for people who want more carrying capacity than a normal e-bike but not the price or size of a full cargo bike. It is 1.73 m long and weighs 22.9 kg, so it fits in a hallway and is easy to lift. The rear rack takes 50 kg: enough for a week's shopping or one child in a suitable seat.
The Bosch Performance Line motor with 65 Nm feels natural and has enough power for city hills with a moderate load. The 400 Wh battery covers daily trips; Tern quotes up to 105 km in ideal conditions, and around 35 km is realistic with a load. The 9-speed Shimano Alivio derailleur and Tektro hydraulic brakes are simple and cheap to maintain.
The total weight limit is 150 kg, which leaves less room for a heavier rider plus child. There is no suspension, so rough roads are felt more. The bike can stand upright on its rear rack, which helps in small storage spaces.
Yes, one child on the rear rack with a suitable seat. Mind the 150 kg total limit: rider, child and luggage together must stay under it.
The rear rack is rated for 50 kg, and Tern offers an optional front rack for extra luggage. The whole bike including rider is rated for 150 kg.
Tern quotes up to 105 km with the 400 Wh battery in ideal conditions. With luggage and mixed riding, plan on around 35 km.
The Tern Quick Haul P9 is designed for one child.
With its 400 Wh battery we estimate about 34 km per charge with an 80 kg rider and 40 kg of cargo on rolling terrain. Use the range calculator above for your own scenario.
The bike weighs about 22.9 kg and has a maximum permitted total weight (rider, cargo and bike) of 150 kg.
Prices start at €3,799. The final price depends on configuration, battery size and accessories.
