The Tern Quick Haul D8 is for people who want more carrying capacity than a normal e-bike but not the price or size of a full cargo bike. It is 1.73 m long and weighs 22.8 kg, so it fits in a hallway and is easy to lift. The rear rack takes 50 kg: enough for a week's shopping or one child in a suitable seat.
The Bosch Active Line Plus motor with 50 Nm is quiet and feels natural, but it is made for flat and gently rolling cities rather than steep hills with a full load. The 500 Wh battery covers daily trips; around 40 km is realistic with a load. The 8-speed derailleur and Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are simple and cheap to maintain.
The total weight limit is 150 kg, which leaves less room for a heavier rider plus child. There is no suspension, so rough roads are felt more. The bike can stand upright on its rear rack, which helps in small storage spaces.
Yes, one child on the rear rack with a suitable seat. Mind the 150 kg total limit: rider, child and luggage together must stay under it.
The rear rack is rated for 50 kg, and Tern offers an optional front rack for extra luggage. The whole bike including rider is rated for 150 kg.
With the 500 Wh battery, plan on around 40 km with luggage and mixed riding. Light loads and flat routes give more.
The Tern Quick Haul D8 is designed for one child.
With its 500 Wh battery we estimate about 42 km per charge with an 80 kg rider and 40 kg of cargo on rolling terrain. Use the range calculator above for your own scenario.
The bike weighs about 22.8 kg and has a maximum permitted total weight (rider, cargo and bike) of 150 kg.
Prices start at €2,999. The final price depends on configuration, battery size and accessories.
